Pity they have now become collectors pieces for the relatively well healed. We needed no plaque to shout to the world; we had the crossing of those ancient Roman roads of Watling Street and the Fosse Way which ran as diagonals from the 4 corners of the country. Doubtless this is why Triumph "relocated" to Hinckley so that it could be at the true centre of England.
I gather Hinckley has a lot going for it these days; when I lived there it was very much a one horse town and a cart horse at that, famous only for making ladies stockings and tights. But I enjoyed my days there.Anchoishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15586966370186258127noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6219646897587177986.post-45354258530241603172011-06-06T20:38:49.937+02:002011-06-06T20:38:49.937+02:00We never considered that bike as a real"Trito...We never considered that bike as a real"Triton", so we never used that name too, by respect for those who built the real ones in the 60s.
I must admit that the combination Triumph engine and Norton Frame was a great thing. That bike was just a tribute, and for the rest I must admit that I'm too much influenced by the custom scene, who let you a part of creativity...vincent prathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01434300901614986022noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6219646897587177986.post-17520054168350076772011-06-06T18:55:44.885+02:002011-06-06T18:55:44.885+02:00Vincent, all my apologies for misunderstanding thi...Vincent, all my apologies for misunderstanding things like the name. The photographs are beautiful but so dark that I cannot make out engine details on the picture I found. Hence that mistake. As for the fat vintage-US-look tyres, I do not quite get the point of them, either aesthetically or from a practical pount of view. But there are so many really nice things about this bike and it is very innovative, which is a rare quality.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15635428184895066582noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6219646897587177986.post-17637979313394725222011-06-06T18:09:41.843+02:002011-06-06T18:09:41.843+02:00David
